Good morning Year 5, we hope you and your families are all ok.

 

You should aim to spend 4 hours on your work every day.

If you finish early, click on the educational links above.

Remember to:

  • Get to bed before 9pm (put your screens down at least an hour before).
  • Eat healthily - water, fruit, vegetables (not too much sugar or fried foods). 
  • Keep to a routine - get up at the same time as you would for school.
  • Have breaks, play, read and get some fresh air.
  • Complete your work to at least the same standard as you would at school.
  • Email your work daily (year5teacher@girlingtonprimary.co.uk)

1. Read the 'Features of a Biography Mat' and Roald Dahl biography.

3. Can you find any of the features from the mat in the biography?.

4. When you find an example, write the feature followed by the example in your book

Tomorrow we will be publishing our writing but instead of writing in our neatest handwriting, we will be typing out and emailing our diary entry.

 

This will be used as a final assessed piece of writing so you are going to use today's lesson to make sure it is your best piece of year five writing so far with lots of year five writing skills and all punctuated correctly.

 

Using the year five writing checklist and the proof reading list below, make your writing the best it can be ready for typing out tomorrow.

  • We pronounce it 'leever', but the video uses the American pronunciation 'lever'. 

 

  • 'Mechanical advantage' - using a mechanism to enable you to do something, or make it easier e.g a lever to lift a heavy object.

  • Complete the sentences for your diagrams you drew yesterday.
  • Write a letter to Archimedes to explain what you did and what you found out.
